About The Misfit Mind
A place to turn everyday questions into a better understanding of learning and development.
Where the questions come from
The Misfit Mind is a parent-led educational project run by Thomas Sagorsky. The questions that arise while growing alongside children are a starting point for reading, explaining and reconsidering what we understand.
We write for parents, educators and gifted adults about giftedness, twice-exceptionality, uneven development and educational fit. Across these topics, we try to keep abilities and support needs in view together.
Our current focus is growing a community through free articles and videos, and learning which questions readers find useful. You can suggest a topic in the public comments on our YouTube channel. Please keep identifying information about children out of those comments. YouTube ↗
What you will find here
We publish short videos, explanations with source links, and questions that can help adults prepare a conversation at home or school. Our prompts and examples are not diagnostic tools or assessment scales. They can help clarify a question to take to an appropriately qualified professional.
This is a general educational resource. It is not a clinical service, diagnostic provider, school or accredited professional-advice service.
Sources and production
We distinguish official guidance, research and interpretation, and show where important claims come from. Family experience can inspire a question; it is not evidence for a claim about every child. Invented, generalised and composite examples are identified as such.
Production may include AI-assisted text, translations, images and voice. Learning guides disclose that assistance. Unless a page identifies an actual professional review, it should not be understood as having received one.
A child's privacy comes first
Identifying observations, school correspondence, assessments, photographs and private experiences of children do not belong in this website's content. Please do not send that material when contacting us.

Five-Minute Field Study and Child Understanding App are prototypes in development. Their appearance here does not establish public availability, readiness for use by real children or validated effectiveness. There is no public release date.
